Preparing for Winter
Keeping Our Neighbors Warm and Safe
Leading Mid Coast Maine organizations and individuals have come together to form a “Preparing for Winter Action Program,” organized by United Way of Mid Coast Maine.
“Our mission is to help Mid Coast residents get through the coming winter safely,” said Susan Wygal of Topsham, Chair of the effort and a United Way board member. “Many groups and individuals are doing great work already. United Way has brought some of these people together into action teams to share good ideas among all communities of our region, get information to the people who need it, maximize the use of limited resources, and see how much more we can do.”
The Action Program grew out of a Home Heating and Energy Forum convened by United Way in August, attended by more than 100 people. Wygal stated that the response was amazing: “the room was full of ideas, energy, and determination to ensure that our neighbors are safe throughout the winter and that steps are taken to reduce the cost of heating homes.”
