Several funds have been established to provide support to our neighbors in need. To donate to these programs, click one of the links below.
Keep ME Warm: State wide or by county.
In collaboration with the statewide network of 10 United Ways in Maine and 10 Community Action Programs we are raising money to supplement emergency fuel programs and to restock our food pantries and soup kitchens. United Way of Mid Coast Maine has donated $25,000 to the local heating assistance funds listed below. If we receive any donations marked "Heating Assistance", we will distribute the funds to the same local programs. We will not charge any administrative fees.
Midcoast Maine Community Action (MMCA, formerly CED): Brunswick, Harpswell, Sagadahoc and Lincoln Counties.
MMCA's Home Heating and Utility Assistance Programs provide resources and benefits for the cost of heating homes with oil, kerosene, coal, wood, LP gas, and with savings on the cost of utilities and electricity. Warm Thy Neighbor: Brunswick, Topsham, Harpswell, Orrs and Bailey Islands, Durham, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Lisbon, and Lisbon Falls.
This program helps those who cannot get assistance elsewhere with their heating needs. WTN is designed to be flexible and meet the needs of those who fall between the cracks and have special circumstances. Most people have less than 200% of poverty level. Salvation Army: Brunswick, Harpswell, Sagadahoc County (except Richmond).
So many families are struggling. In all seasons, The Salvation Army is there to lend a helping hand and provide food and shelter for those who are working hard to make ends meet. Fuel for Friends: Bath, West Bath, Phippsburg, Woolwich, Arrowsic, and Georgetown
This is a collaborative project organized by Regional School Unit 1 and the City of Bath to raise money for heating assistance for people who cannot afford fuel. The goal is to raise emergency support money and distribute it to people in need.
